Well, this sounds familiar. Nintendo is racking up the pre-release accolades forZelda: Breath of the Wild. It had already wonBest of Show at E3from the Game Critics Awards (andDestructoid’s Game of the Show, too). It has some new hardware for its mantle.
The gamescom 2016 awards were recently announced and,surprise surprise,Zeldatook home the most coveted honor. There were plenty of worthy nominees (Final Fantasy XV,Horizon Zero Dawn,Battlefield 1, etc.) butZeldawas named the best of the best in Germany.
Many other games were also given awards, too — just none as illustrious asZelda‘s. Here are all of the winners from gamescom 2016:
