AlthoughXbox Game Passoften announces its new slate of games at the beginning and middle of a month, sometimes these announcements come out of left field. It’s not uncommon for a new game to be revealed, and it confirms itself as a new day oneXbox Game Passtitle. That’s exactly what happened with its newest day one title.

Soccer Storyis a new adventure RPG, from Panic Barn! and No More Robots, and it got a new reveal trailer today, August 11. This trailer confirms the game for multiple platforms, including PC, Stadia, Switch, andXbox Game Pass, sometime in 2022.

Soccer Storyis set a year after some apparent calamity that resulted in Soccer Inc. preventing anyone from looking at or kicking a soccer ball. That is, until a magic soccer ball chooses the player as the Savior of Soccer. A lot of the gameplay is driven by physics, with the magic ball being able to solve many of the PC’s problems. The graphics also give it an almostcottagecore feeling, making it seem like a good comfort game. Throughout the course of the game, players will “solve problems, play random sports, and save the world, all with the kick of your magic football.”

Of course, Americans are going to instantly recognize this as soccer, while those across the ocean are going to know this as football. Apparently, according to No More Robots PR Rep Mike Rose,Soccer Storysounds much better thanFootball Fable, and “It’s Football!” may be a line in the game. Either way, it all seems interesting. An exact release date hasn’t been given, beyond the 2022 release window, but that means sometime in the next four months, it’ll grace Game Pass.

Of course, a lot is happening with Game Pass right now, as it stands. Today, August 11, it addedCooking Simulator, Expeditions: Rome, andOffworld Trading Company, and it plans to add Midnight Fight Express on August 23. A reveal for new games will likely take place soon. Soon though,Xbox Game Pass will also lose five games. August 15 will see the departure ofBoyfriend Dungeon, Curse of the Dead Gods, Library of Ruina, Starmancer, andTrain Sim World 2.
