After a one and a half year hiatus Disney Plus is bringing back the MCU with full force, as news have surfaced that theWandaVisionpremiere next week will not adhere to the platform’s usual release schedule, thus showing an early glimpse of what Wanda Maximoff’s powers are really capable of.

Ever sinceSpider-Man: Far From Homecame out and withBlack Widow’sdelays pushing the film all the way to late April, Disney Plus became the place to find Marvel’s newest productions with bothWandaVisionandThe Falcon and the Winter Soldierboth set to release within the first quarter of the year.

Not only that, but as it turns out Disney decided to make theWandaVisionpremiere extra special by announcing the series’ release on January 15 will feature two episodes being dropped on Disney Plus, instead of one as it tends to do. The news came via a press release shared by ComicBook.com, detailing that episodes 1 and 2 will debut next week, while episode 3 will resume the normal schedule by premiering on January 22.

Even though big Disney Plus exclusives are still a novelty, the company has previously bent this rule for the National Geographic shows and most notably forThe Mandalorian’sfirst two episodes back in 2019. Ever since thenThe Mandalorianreturned to its now usual one weekly episode agenda.

It’s unclear why Disney chose to go this way withWandaVision, perhaps it’s a way to soothe Marvel fans’ thirst for MCU content after such a long time; or, maybe more interestingly,WandaVision’ssingular style and plotcould just be better suited to a two-part introduction to get the story going.

WandaVisionis set to be a 9 episode miniseries and despite no specific runtimes being released so far, each one is supposed to hover between the 30 to 40-minute mark. With two episodes on their way next week, viewers can look forward to something totaling about the same as a short MCU film to dive inside theScarlet Witch’s superpowered housewife sitcom life.
