Daniil Medvedev is the next athlete to invest in esports as the superstar tennis player joins the M80 ownership group.
We recently sawLeo Messi step into the esports spotlight. Now, another superstar athlete has invested in competitive gaming. The third-ranked tennis player in the entire world, Daniil Medvedev, has joined M80 as a co-owner and investor.
Daniil Medvedev shows his love for esports by becoming co-owner of M80
M80 is a fairly young organization is the grand scheme of esports. Since their inception, the org has made waves in games such as Counter-Strike, VALORANT, and Rainbow Six. The latter happens to be a favorite of Daniil Medvedev, which perhaps contributed to his co-ownership.
On the court, Medvedev took home the victory at the 2021 U.S. Open. In 2022, he spent 16 weeks as the number one-ranked tennis player in the world. Now sitting at rank three, he continues to showcase elite athleticism in traditional sports and esports with his time in R6.
Medvedev is a 20-time tennis title holder, but also an avid gamer. He is a Game Ambassador for Rainbow Six Siege. His time in that game has seen him reach the top 2.6% of all players. Medvedev will now mix his two worlds together with M80.

That quote by Medvedev was followed up by the aforementioned Marco Mereu. The CEO and Co-Founder of M80 had this to say about the new co-owner:
“As we continue building world-class esports teams, Daniil joining M80 supercharges our vision. Daniil is a leader on the court and in game, and brings his competitive drive and commitment to excellence that will be the bedrock for our current and future programs.”
M80 has had quite the successful 2023. The Rainbow Six roster finished second at Gamers8 in July while qualifying for the Blast R6 Major in Atlanta. Its Counter-Strike team will soon compete in the $500,000 Thunderpick World Championship.
And its VALORANT team nearly reached the VALORANT Champions Tour through Ascension. They dominated the NA Challengers league, but fell short in second place during the Ascension tournament in Brazil.
All of that success will undoubtedly continue with Daniil Medvedev onboard as an M80 co-owner. The eyes brought to the organization and ability to recruit top talent across multiple titles will be a mighty takeaway from this partnership.
