Every time a new Marvel film releases, fans are ecstatic and hold high expectations from their favorite franchises. But, there are also those who believe that each film will be worse than its predecessor. When the studio started extensive promotions forShang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, many such individuals believed that it would be their worst film yet. Star Simu Liu had the perfect response for these keyboard warriors.

Over the past weekend,Marvel Studios’Shang-Chipremiered exclusively in theatersamid much fanfare, and needless to say, it didn’t disappoint. The first Asian-led superhero film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe had a great opening, racking up around $140 million worldwide on its debut weekend. While the news was welcomed by Marvel fans, those who predicted the film would flop had Liu reminding them of its success with a hilarious stock photo meme.

On his Twitter account, Liu posted a stock image of himself pointing at something on a laptop screen, while two other individuals look on. All three seem to be sharing a joke and laughing over it, while the caption on Liu’s post reads, “Me laughing at the people who thought we’d flop.” His epic response to all the haters on social media has been appreciated byMarvel fans around the world, with many contributing with their own take on the meme.

Shang-Chiwas already contributing to the MCU’s historywith its Asian representation, as the film consists of a mainly Asian cast and crew. The box office numbers have only helped it squash the hopes (by some) of its failure and added it to the list of the MCU’s various blockbusters. It is being hailed by many as the best origin story in the MCU so far, which is saying a lot considering the title was previously held by films likeBlack PantherandDoctor Strange.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Ringsis now showing at theaters.
