The timing on this video could not be better. As a new PlayStation 4 owner, one of the first games I knew I had to download wasP.T., a playable teaser lead-in toSilent Hills. It’s a weird game — “experimental,” if you like — thatobfuscates its mechanicsto create a deeply unsettling experience. A hallway loops. A creepy fetus thing cries in a sink. A ghost pops up unexpectedly.
While I don’t think I’ve played a scarier game in my life, much of the story was lost on me. EnterThe Grate Debate, a YouTube channel coveringSilent Hillanalysis and discussion, with answers and compelling speculation. At just under 40 minutes long, you’re going to want to settle in.
