A patch has arrived … but desync issues remain.

Mortal Kombat 1 received an update yesterday, addressing an issue plaguing console players. For some time, those queuing into a Kombat League match were met with a “desync” error that would kick them out of the game. TheMortal Kombat 1patch notes for the January 12 update state that the update should have fixed the ongoing issue, but many report the opposite.

The latest update went live on January 12 alongside a post on X by the game’s official account. It was meant to address the following issues:

Regardless of the platform, desync errors have run rampant in Mortal Kombat 1. Ed Boon even mentioned desyncing on December 20, as seen in the post above.

While the January 12 patch notes list this issue as resolved, that is not the case. Many users onRedditand X have reported continued desync problems after installing the update.

Ongoing MK1 desync issue explained

This issue only affects Kombat League players, particularly on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. However, desync reports date back to when the game launched in September 2023. To summarize what occurs, players will suddenly disconnect from a match, causing them to lose Kombat League points and patience.

NetherRealm’s latest Mortal Kombat 1 patch notes state that they have fixed the issue. Unfortunately, PlayStation and Xbox players have similarly reported that desyncs still happen frequently.
