Anthem too (which is not the name of a sequel)

For the third consecutive year, Electronic Arts is spending E3 somewhere other than inside the E3 convention hall. Two years ago, it posted up right outside the Los Angeles Convention Center. Then, in 2017,it moved the festivities to Hollywood. This year will be a repeat of last.

Even though the public will be allowed inside E3 again, EA is taking the party to Hollywood. This morning, EA announced the third iteration of EA Play — ostensibly, the publisher’s way of having a presence at E3 without actually paying the ESA for the privilege. It’ll take place June 9 through 11 at the Hollywood Palladium.

The eye-catching news item from this announcement isn’t so much the existence of EA Play, but rather that attendees will be able to go hands-on with this year’sBattlefieldandAnthem. Otherwise, it’s the same suspects — sports games,The Sims, and some mobile titles are currently scheduled.

Anyone who wants to go should keep an eye on this over the next couple of months. It’s a free event, but you still have to be quick enough to nab tickets before it sells out. Last year, they went up in late April. There will probably be adequate warning so don’t sweat it too much. Save that sweat for the Los Angeles June heat.
