NBA 2K21officially launched today and the cover athlete has a special surprise for his fans. As a special thank you for being the cover athlete,Damian Lillardrevealed the Dame 7’s by wearing them in-game.
Damian Lillard is a star point guard for the Portland Trailblazers and his success on and off the court has earned him his experience as theNBA 2K21cover athlete. Damian Lillard joins the ranks of elite basketball players to grace the cover of2K. This year he is joined by the late Kobe Bryant, who is thecover athlete for the Legendary Edition, marking his 3rd appearance on the cover of2K.

Much like Kobe Bryant, Lillard has also been heavily involved with his signature shoe designs. Lillard signed with Adidas as a rookie in 2012 and earned his first signature shoe in 2015. Since then, Lillard has released six different models of his Dame collection of shoes and now his seventh has been only revealed digitally and has not been seen outside of theNBA 2K21game.
The Dame 7’s were revealed with a red and black colorway that features the phrase “I Am My Own Fan” on the midsole. The actual shoes will release in October, possibly around the same time Damian Lillard officially releases hissongs featured inNBA 2K21.
Lillard gave fans a real treat on the launch day ofNBA 2K21. By having songs in the soundtrack, releasing a new signature shoe, and being a dominate basketball player, Lillard has embraced the cover athlete lifestyle. It will be interesting to see what rookie next-gen cover athlete Zion Williamson does for the launch ofNBA 2K21on next-genin the future.
NBA 2K21is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, Switch, Xbox One, and mobile devices, followed by PS5 and Xbox Series X as the consoles launch.
