Creative ’s Zii , which is either an extremely exciting platform for Android PMPs or a boring developers ’ peter ( nobody recognize ! ) has turned up in CNET Asia ’s offices . As you could imagine , it did n’t take long before they gota little handsy .
Like Creative’sintroduction videobefore it , CNET ’s hand - on is more about seeing the ironware than evidence off new feature — this is the same Android we ’ve been using since last year , after all . There ’s a mass of interesting material run on inside the Egg—720p telecasting playback support by means of on in - house chip , promise of foresightful battery life , the expandable entrepot potential — but most of this is n’t apparent in a short demonstration like this .

What we ’re leave with is an attractive piece of hardware that is just begging to live out its destiny as the first mainstream Android PMP , but which Creative ca n’t seem to make up its idea about , at least publicly . The Zii really expect like a consumer products , from its styling to its specification , and I ’d love or Creative to take it to market , or to sell the aim to someone else to do the same . But even though it seems obvious that such a mathematical product would represent the first material rival to the iPod Touch , their line of business , still , is that this is for developers , and that the “ platform ” could beavailable to manufacturers , though apparently , not this specific objet d’art of hardware . Whether they ’re just tie up in their own Good Book or this is really their plan , there ’s a market gap that needs satisfy , and the Zii looks like it could fill it . Click through for TV .
