Crazy Raccoon players are the Overwatch 2 winners of the inaugural Esports World Cup. The team earned the lion’s share of the $1,000,000 USD prize pool.
Shu becomes MVP at Overwatch 2 Esports World Cup 2024
One player on Crazy Raccoon, Kim “Shu” Jin-seo, also became the MVP of the tournament, earning himself $50,000 USD. On social media, he thanked his Japanese fans for their support.
Shu also noted that he was upset how the audience only cheered Team Falcons on Crazy Raccoon’s road to victory. However, he didn’t give up until the end game. This persistence paid off as his team earned a place in the final. Then, Crazy Raccoon faced Toronto Ultra in the grand final.

When it came down to this match against Toronto Ultra, Crazy Raccoon opted for dive compositions and went 4-1 against the North American (NA) team. Crazy Raccoon’s backline of support players, Shu and Sung “CH0R0NG” Yoo-min, made sure that their teammates survived.
Meanwhile, with the help of player Kamden “Sugarfree” Hijada, Toronto Ultra got an early lead on the fourth map thanks to a Sombra pick. Later, Toronto Ultra went overtime and secured a victory to stay in the series.
However, it wasn’t enough as Crazy Raccoon players continued to dominate their run. With a score of 4-1, the team became the first-ever one to lift the Overwatch 2 Esports World Cup trophy.
