Out here in drouth - stricken California , the weather has been creepily gorgeous for over a yr . But now , we ’re face up one of the worst storm seasons in recorded story for this region . Are any of you in the storm ’s path ? What are you doing to make ?
New prediction based current climate models came out this week , and they show ( as you may see in the gif above ) that today ’s weather system are looking hazardously similar to those from 1997 , another titan El Niño year . According to Rong Gong Lin II , write in the Los Angeles Times , scientists believe the mega - storms will off in later fall or other winter :
The National Weather Service ’s Climate Prediction Center said Thursday that all estimator theoretical account are predicting a strong El Niño to peak in the late drop or early winter .

“ This by all odds has the potential of being the Godzilla El Niño , ” tell Bill Patzert , a climatologist with NASA ’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in La Cañada Flintridge . Patzert tell El Niño ’s sign in the ocean “ right now is stronger than it was in 1997 , ” the summer in which the most powerful El Niño on record acquire …
“ This could be among the strongest El Niños in the diachronic disk date stamp back to 1950 , ” said Mike Halpert , deputy sheriff director of the Climate Prediction Center .
After the summer 1997 El Niño muscled up , the following winter gave Southern California double its yearly rainfall and coldcock double the snowpack in the Sierra Nevada , an essential source of precipitation for the state of matter ’s piss supplying , Patzert said .

So what is a good tragedy prepper to do ? We know that the rains are coming . We know where they ’re likely to hit .
My housemates and I have decided to use the last quick days of summertime to patch all the holes in our roof , and to ensure all our rain sewer are clear and in working rescript . Also , I ’ve decided I should purchase some good rain the boot . What else should we be doing ? If you go in the El Niño path , what are you doing ?
