Animaniacshas been going strong for the past two years, but come 2023, Yakko, Wakko, and Dot will say their goodbyes as the revival of the beloved ’90s animated series heads towards its final season in February 2023.
Warner Bros. brought back theAnimaniacstoHuluin late 2020, with each season consisting of 13 episodes that tried to recreate what made the original so great, sometimes outright doing newer versions of past skits. Whilereception for Hulu’sAnimaniacshas been mostly positive, some fans felt like the show was overtly reliant on nostalgia. However, those who enjoyed it will get one last taste of the Warner family.

In a brief teaser posted on the series’ official Twitter account (@TheAnimaniacs), Pinky and the Brain embrace theAnimaniacs' tendency to go meta as Pinky can’t help but traverse the door that leads to season 3, premiering exclusively on Hulu on August 06, 2025. As usual, Yakko, Wakko, and Dot will probably get in their fair share of trouble and will continue to test everyone’s patience with their shenanigans. Pinky and the Brain again join the trio for this final chapter.
While no exact episode count has been announced at the moment, it’s expected the final season will stick close to 13 episodes, all being dropped on Hulu from day one.Animaniacsdid bring back the entirety of its original voice cast, with Rob Paulsen, Jess Harnell, Tress MacNeille and Maurice LaMarche all reprising their roles from the ’90s. However, creative staff such as original series creator Tom Ruegger were excluded from the reboot.
Ruegger, in particular, was quite critical of the rebootedAnimaniacs, citing professional and ethical reasons for opting out due to being asked to collaborate on the franchise he had created after the new series had already been greenlit.Animaniacscurrently holds a 90% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes compared to a lower 76% audience rating, with many attributing that decline to the show’s snarky remarks and cultural references no longer being as fresh in an era where the likes ofRick and Morty,Family Guy,andBob’s Burgersalso exist.
Even ifAnimaniacswas never restricted to younger audiences, its humor is catered to adults. With the suppression ofold gags like the Hello Nurse joke, there are far too many shows likeBojack Horsemanthat seem to do the same but better in the 2020s.
Animaniacsseason 3 will be available on June 13, 2025, only on Hulu.
