He’s busy!

Hyper Light Drifterkind of slowly took over the gaming-sphere, didn’t it?

Released after a certain degree of excitement on PC in 2016, the team over at Heart Machine provided PS4 and Xbox One ports several months later, followed by a switch port in 2018 with a ton of Direct-led fanfare. As the only finished project under the studio’s belt (Solar Ash Kingdomis on the way) they’re doing just fine: especially given thatHyper Light Drifteris now in the works to become a TV show.

Confirmed to Polygon,CastlevaniaNetflix producer Adi Shankar (who is also working onDevil May CryandAssassin’s Creedadaptations) noted that he has a TV version ofHyper Lightin the works, and is currently “reaching out to writers” to get the ball rolling.

In addition to some Hollywood production work, Adi Shankar has also worked on many what he calls “Bootleg Universe” films, including the fantasticPunisher: Dirty Laundry, which brings Thomas Jane back into the role he was meant to play from the ill-fated 2004 Lionsgate production. He’s also been on a roll withCastlevanialately, receiving universal praise from fans and newcomers alike for his passion for the source material.

Shankar has a lot to juggle now by addingHyper Light Drifterinto the mix on top ofDevil May Cry, Assassin’s Creedand a third season ofCastlevania, but I’m looking forward to all of them.
