The inverse of complaining about games you’ve never played In an economy lush with information and scarce in disposable income, I often grow attached to games by observing them rather than playing them. We have access to online videos, walkthroughs, wikis, blogs, fan fiction, and so many more sources of information that we can pull up within 10 seconds via a Google search. I wish I had the time and money to play every great game that I’ve ever looked up, but I’m too curious for my wish list’s own good....

Nearly halfway to its Kickstarter goal Back in November last year,we first got word ofWitchmarsh, a great-looking indie RPG that would be launching a Kickstarter in January, to fund its development. That Kickstarter launched over the weekend, and despite only being four days old,just over £20,000has been raised towards the final goal of £50,000. Witchmarshis an action-RPG set in Massachusetts during the 1920s, featuring a team of detectives looking for a group of missing people, dubbed the Witchmarsh Twelve....

He’s eyeing a barcade next Cliff Bleszinski has been on quite the entrepreneurial run since his 2012 departure from Epic Games. It was recently revealed that he’s opening up a new studio calledBoss Key Productions. Week-long Labor Day promotion from Microsoft Last week Thursday Microsoft started up an early Labor Day sale on all things Xbox One S bundles. The deals were okay but not exactlyamazing– essentially when you bought select Xbox One S 1TB bundles, you’ll get two free games of choice. The games were a bit limiting and thus we shrugged our deal shoulder and carried on. The game done changed The resistance against Netflix and award validation has taken a new twist. As reported byTHR, the streaming giant has been banned from competing in the Cannes Film Festival and thus banned from winning its coveted award, the Palme d’Or. The head of Cannes, Thierry Fremaux, explained that this is because Netflix refuses to release their films in theaters and instead does so on their streaming platform. A new rule has been put in place for this year’s Cannes Film Festival in which films squaring off for the Palme d’Or must have a French theatrical release....

Hope you weren’t expecting Ike During Tokyo Game Show 2017, Koei Tecmo revealed the DLC plans for the upcomingFire Emblem Warriors. The company will be taking an approach similar to howHyrule Warriorswent, with each pack focusing on a different game, and a unique costume for buying all the packs in a bundle. That being said, if you were expecting a new game to be included through the DLC, you’ll be disappointed....

Putting the “light” in “roguelight” Gearbox is best known for creating theBorderlandsgames, but it has also published some of the most well-loved indie games of recent years, includingRisk of Rain 2,Astroneer,The Banner Saga Trilogy, and evenSubnautica. Gearbox Publishing’s newest project,Eyes in the Dark: The Curious Case of One Victoria Bloom, looks like it’s shaping up to be yet another charming indie project (and it has an amazing title, too). Gearbox Publishing dropped the announcement trailer today at PAX East 2022, showing off the gothic “roguelight” gameplay from developer Under the Stairs....

E3 2012 was considered by many to be the most gun-heavy show we have ever seen. However, looking back upon the week, there really were no more shooters than usual. In fact, most of the games were featured in last year’s lineup! So, why was it that we felt there was too much bullet-spewing this year? The problem was not the abundance of FPS titles, but the lack of anything else to offset them....

Legacy support is lacking outside of PS4 games [Update: Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan hasconfirmedthat PS5 won’t natively support PS3, PS2, or PS1 games through backward compatibility. We’ll see about digital re-releases, though.] Don’t pack up your original PlayStation 3 just yet if you’re invested in PS3 games or backward compatibility with PS1 and PS2. If anything, superglue that sucker in place– it’s not going anywhere. While Sony hasn’t divulged the full details on how extensive backward compatibility will be on PlayStation 5, reading the room, it’s looking like support for the “overwhelming majority” of PS4 games is our best bet on the new console and everything else– PS1, PS2, and PS3– is wishful thinking....

‘Scram Kitty’ sounds like a great fictional band name Dakko Dakko’s platform shooterScram Kitty and his Buddy on Railsis now available today in the Nintendo eShop today for Wii U owners. Looks like a colorful and frenetic arcade romp with some rad electronica to accompany some rather wild levels. I’ve not had a chance to play it, but you roll around, attach yourself to walls, and utilize the GamePad for normal play....
